Our Story
About Big Lodge Weddings
A private luxury estate in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, born from a family tradition of mountain hospitality and built for the celebrations that matter most.
How It All Began
Big Lodge Weddings didn't begin with a business plan. It began with a place — a 12,000-square-foot private lodge nestled in the mountains above Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, originally built as the crown jewel of the Moose Hollow Lodge family of vacation properties. For years, families and groups traveled from across the country to gather in this extraordinary space: cooking together in the gourmet kitchen, watching sunsets from the wraparound deck, falling asleep to the quiet of the Smoky Mountains.
But it was the weddings that changed everything. Couples who discovered Moose Hollow Lodge for family vacations began returning to exchange vows in the great room, with its cathedral timber ceilings and floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace framing the mountains beyond. They told us that no chapel in Gatlinburg, no ballroom in Sevierville, no barn venue along the Parkway had given them the feeling they experienced here — that rare combination of grandeur and intimacy, of luxury and warmth, that turned a ceremony into something sacred.
We listened. And Big Lodge Weddings was born — not as a reinvention of the property, but as a recognition of what it had always been: a place where people come together for the moments that define their lives.
What We Believe
We believe that a wedding should feel like the truest expression of the couple at its center — not a production designed to impress, but a gathering designed to connect. We believe that where you celebrate matters as much as how, and that the right setting doesn't just host a moment, it elevates it. We believe that privacy is the foundation of intimacy, that craftsmanship speaks louder than decoration, and that the Great Smoky Mountains provide a backdrop that no florist's budget or lighting designer's vision can rival.
Our mission is simple: to provide couples with a private, world-class venue where every element — architecture, landscape, hospitality, and heart — works together to create celebrations that are felt long after the last dance. We don't host multiple weddings each weekend. We don't run couples through time slots. When you book Big Lodge Weddings, you book the entire estate, exclusively, for the duration of your celebration. Your wedding is the only wedding that matters here — because to us, it is.

The Moose Hollow Lodge Connection
Big Lodge Weddings is the wedding and events brand of Moose Hollow Lodge, one of the most celebrated luxury vacation rentals in the Smoky Mountains. For years, Moose Hollow has welcomed families, corporate groups, and reunion gatherings to its 12,000-square-foot mountain estate — earning a 4.9-star rating from 357 reviews and a reputation as the premier large-group lodge in the Pigeon Forge and Sevierville area.
That heritage of hospitality is the foundation of everything we do at Big Lodge Weddings. The same property that families trust for their most important gatherings is the property where couples celebrate their most important day. The same attention to craftsmanship that earned those reviews — the hand-hewn beams, the gourmet kitchen, the mountain views from every suite — is the attention that defines your wedding experience. We didn't build a wedding venue. We recognized that the perfect one had been here all along.
When you book Big Lodge Weddings, you benefit from a property with years of operational excellence, a team that understands hospitality at the highest level, and an estate that has been tested, refined, and loved by thousands of guests. Your wedding inherits all of that — and adds to it.
The Smoky Mountain Advantage
The Great Smoky Mountains are the most visited national park in the United States, and the corridor stretching from Sevierville through Pigeon Forge to Gatlinburg has become one of the Southeast's premier wedding destinations. But most venues in this region ask couples to choose: seclusion or convenience, mountain beauty or guest comfort, architectural character or logistical simplicity. Big Lodge Weddings refuses that compromise.
Our estate sits on a private mountain road above Pigeon Forge — close enough that your guests can enjoy the restaurants, attractions, and shopping along the Parkway, yet secluded enough that the nearest sound is birdsong and the nearest view is an unbroken ridgeline stretching toward the national park. Gatlinburg is a short drive for guests who want to explore. Downtown Sevierville offers local dining and charm. And the lodge itself provides everything needed for a complete wedding weekend without ever leaving the property.
For destination wedding couples, the Smoky Mountains offer something that beach and vineyard venues cannot: accessibility. Knoxville's McGhee Tyson Airport is under an hour away. The region is within a day's drive of most major cities in the eastern United States. And Tennessee's favorable tax environment and cost of living mean that your wedding budget stretches further here than in many competing destination markets — without sacrificing a single degree of beauty, luxury, or experience.

Our Experience Philosophy
We don't believe in wedding factories. We don't believe in fifteen-minute ceremony windows, shared reception halls, or celebrations that end because the next event needs to load in. We believe that a wedding weekend — and it should be a weekend, not a day — deserves the kind of space, time, and attention that only complete exclusivity can provide.
Every celebration at Big Lodge Weddings unfolds at the couple's pace. The rehearsal dinner can linger past midnight if the stories are flowing. The ceremony can start when the light is perfect, not when the schedule demands. The after-party can migrate from the great room to the deck to the entertainment level as the evening evolves. And the morning after — that golden, slightly sleepy Sunday with coffee on the deck and mountain views and the quiet satisfaction of having celebrated your love in a place worthy of the occasion — that morning belongs to you, too. No checkout rush. No strangers at breakfast. Just your people, in your place, for as long as the weekend holds.
This is what we built Big Lodge Weddings to be. Not the biggest venue in the Smoky Mountains. Not the flashiest or the most produced. The most intentional. A place where timber, stone, light, and landscape converge to create something that feels both ancient and brand-new — and where your love story finds the setting it deserves.
